Splendid Servings 2011!!

Happy new year everybody!

Well i have a new years resolution....... This year i am going to be far more dedicated to my blog! There is always so much going on in the kitchen, designing cakes, baking cakes, decorating cakes! always so much to do, but this year i promise i will share all the new and fun cakes going out of the Splendid Servings kitchen

So to start off 2011, we had the biggest wedding we have had over the past 12 months, this wedding was our only task for the entire week, which is a first!

In 2009 i met Pauline and Andy, and they asked me to do there engagement cake, which was absolutely beautiful, here's a little refresher......



So on the 2nd of January 2011 Pauline and Andy were to be married, and loved there engagement cake so much they asked me to make their wedding cake, and i could not have been more thrilled!
Pauline and Andy come from a Vietnamese background, so in their culture it is traditional to have a large wedding, and everything was big, including the cake!

There venue was Peninsula room at docklands Melbourne.

Pauline was adiment on having a large wedding cake, a cake so big she had to look up at the top tier when she was cutting her cake, so that was what she got!
Her theme was a very elegant vintage feel, this carried through in the lace invitations, Paulines gown and we follwed this through to the cake.

As well as the massive cake Pauline also wanted a dessert buffet for her guests to enjoy through out the evening, and this i was very excited about.
The colour theme for the dessert buffet and throughout the wedding was a soft pink, white and silver, we also carried the carried the lace throughout the buffet table.

The Best of June and July!

Well, it has been a while since i last posted some of the fabulous work that comes out of the Splendid Servings kitchen, so i thought i should get you up to speed on some of what we have created the last couple of months. Although the miserable weather has kept the weddings quite, there are always babies born which means plenty of special bithdays and baptisms!




Graces's 1st birthday cake was the just the cutest cake ever, initialy graces's mother had no real idea on what she wanted for her daughters first birthday cake but with some inspiration from one of her favorite websites, www.lark.com.au Suzanne had clear vision of the theme she wanted for graces birthday, so we based the idea for the cake on the gorgeous lark website. In the end an awesome result, and Suzanne couldnt have been more thrilled it, as were we!




Teddy bears are very popular when it comes to christening cakes, and there are soooo many cute teddy bear designs, but forever friend bears have to be one of my favs.

The Splendid Servings Kitchen

Well, it has been a few weeks now since our last blog, how the year is flying by!!!
As the wedding season winds down a little, it has no doubt kept us busy for the past few months, and there is still some exciting designs to come in the future weeks.

As well as some gorgeous weddings, there has been some really cute christenings and birthdays also.

And little India's christening was one of my fav's, Love pink and black, addicted!!

In December of 09 we had a beautiful garden wedding, the marquee was full of soft beautiful flowers, and looked right on to the lake in the Melbourne Botanical gardens.

The cake we loved, really simple, yet really pretty and fit in just perfectly. Here's a few pics of the setting. Wedding Stylists: The Style Co.

Ok so each month i will post some of our favorite cakes for the month! I know we are in March, but we are not quite through and still have some exciting cakes to create for this month, so i will post them in a few weeks.
Seeing as we are in our third month of this year already! (how it has just flown) and also being the first real post i will put up a glimpse of what we have already created so far this year!

As well as putting up our most fav cakes, i will randomly post some photos and inspiration behind some of the weddings, showing some of the real weddings and the inspiration that helped us design the cake, and the end result of course!
